Gustavo Maestre was born in Barcelona, Venezuela. Painter, sculptor, designer and performer, graduated in 1975 at Escuela Artes Plasticas A. Reveron in his hometown. In 1979 he got a degree in engraving and serigraphy at the Tres Rayas Institute in Madrid and in 1985 in ceramics forming techniques at the Art Institute in Sesto Fiorentino, Florence. In 1988, the Venezuelan painter and sculptor moved to Prato (Italy), where he still lives devoting himself to contemporary art, finding fertile ground to cultivate his bursting expressive power that is expressed in large and colorful paintings. Lives and works between Prato, Italy and Barcelona, Venezuela. He has mounted solo exhibitions in Puerto de la Cruz (Venezuela), Havana (Cuba), Ecuador, Miami (USA), Madrid, Paris, Toulouse, Prato, Florence, Arezzo, Milan, Modena, Rome, Bari.
