Born 1989 Rhuddlan Wales, lives and works in Prague Czech Republic. “I seek that moment when the act of painting becomes instinctive, the reference has been discarded and I am in direct conversation with my own decisions. Relying on muscle-memory and my own aesthetic character. Painting as poetry or music makes sense to me, the vocabulary, cadence, rhythm and harmony.” Allen’s practice is concerned with surface qualities and atmosphere. His alchemical approach to image making incorporates gestalt laws, experimental processes and digital manipulation in an attempt to respond to the language and tradition of oil painting. Allen has exhibited extensively throughout the UK and internationally including shows in London, New York and Suzhou China. His paintings are held in prestigious public and private collections throughout the world, including: The Duke and Duchess of Devonshire’s Collection at Chatsworth House.
